The City of Marathon has proclaimed May 14th-20th to be Guidance Care Center Week in recognition of its 50th year anniversary serving the Florida Keys. It also coincides with the month of May, National Mental Health Awareness Month. Established as a Florida not-for-profit in Marathon, the Guidance/Care Center began providing resources and services in Monroe County in 1973. For the past 50 years, the Guidance Care Center has provided comprehensive, integrated community behavioral health services (mental health, substance abuse and primary care) to people of all ages. There are more than 120 employees who work in 26 different programs at 4 sites throughout the county. Its community services include Mobile Crisis Response, Disaster Crisis Counseling, Crisis Stabilization, Detox, Psychiatric Care, Prevention, Intervention, Outpatient therapy, Intensive Outpatient, Psychosocial Rehabilitation at our Personal Growth Center Clubhouse, The Heron Assisted Living, Substance Use Treatment, Case Management, Care Coordination, Middle Keys Transportation, and Aftercare services.
