Emergency Permitting:
If an emergency situation arises, that during any normal circumstance, would require a permit to
be pulled, you will now be allowed to continue with the needed emergency repairs immediately.
However, the application must be received by the Building Department within a 48 hour time
period after the emergency work has commenced.
We also require that an email be sent into the Building Department at:
inspections@ci.marathon.fl.us . In the email we will require the contractor completing the repair
to explain the reason for the emergency repair. Please be sure to provide as much detail as
possible regarding the emergency that occurred, and what will need to be done to resolve that
emergency completely and accurately.
Please keep in mind the following conditions:
1.) Emergency repairs must still comply with the basic standards required by the Florida
Building Code 2020.This will ensure your repairs can then pass all inspections after the permit
has been issued to you.
2.) This change regarding an emergency repair, does not constitute as an approval for any work
completed that may go against the Florida Building Code, or the City of Marathon Codes,
Ordinances, or Land Development Regulations.
