Salary:    $25.00-$28.00  Hourly, Dependent on Qualifications.

Summary:     

This position is responsible for work concerning code compliance of the City of Marathon Code of Ordinances including safety, health, and environmental land use zoning regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Investigates complaints and violations involving community code compliance, land use, zoning regulations and various related public complaints.

Screens citizen complaints and problems and addresses these issues whenever possible.  Must have the ability to deal with customer complaints inquiries by providing an explanation of city policy on a wide variety of topics. Must be highly organized and detail oriented.  Proficient in the operation of digital cameras.

Plans, directs, and administers projects and programs as directed by the Director including but not limited to code compliance. Performs Inspections. Prepares Notices of Violation, Citations, Compliance, Partial Compliance and Hearing. Prepares agenda reports. Ability to deliver reports in a Public hearing environment.

Education and/or Experience:

A college degree is preferred or equivalent professional experience. One year of community code compliance experience or field inspections experience is desirable. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Code Enforcement Certification through the Florida Association of Code Enforcement or the ability to attain certification within one year.  Work experience must include documented proficiency in computer skills, organizational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively implement due process notice requirements of City Code.

Special Requirements: Hours may include evening and weekend hours. Multilingual a plus. Valid Florida driver’s license required. Successful applicants must undergo a drug test, driver’s license and criminal history check. E.O.E, Drug Free Workplace. Veteran preference given.
