Job Title: Right of Way Infrastructure Technician
Category: Full time position, non-exempt
Salary range: $26.00-$32.00 hourly, DOQ.
Summary: This position is responsible for performing all related repairs and/or maintenance to city roads, bridges, and right of ways.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in road, bridge, drainage repair and shoulder work.
- Dig trenches and drains-assist on VAC truck, vacuum out storm drains.
- Clean up construction debris and work areas.
- Keep the work area clean and organized and use safety cones and signage when required.
- Operates trucks and light street repair equipment.
- Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, stripping, adding or replacing reflectors, working with concrete and asphalt.
- Maintains the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fence, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand or power tools.
- Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and heavy equipment.
- Minor spalling repair and maintenance of bridge structures,
- Loads and unloads materials for City departments.
- Shoulder repair and minor pavement repairs.
- Clean culverts and catch basins to provide Storm-water systems maintenance.
- Culvert pipe replacement and installation experience.
- Operate mowing equipment such as riding mowers, weed eaters, pole saws, chain saws.
- Knowledge of concrete work, electrical work, carpentry work, and other trades.
- Knowledge of ADA requirements and procedures.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems to perform routine maintenance on pressurized and drip irrigation systems.
- Assists with Citywide hurricane preparedness as required to secure all City facilities.
- Replaces, maintains, and installs signs on City properties and public Right of Ways.
- Ability to transport heavy machinery with truck and trailer.
- May be required to work late hours, weekends, and emergency response.
- Must be able to respond to emergency and after-hour calls on nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Responsible for ensuring all work and activities are performed safely and in accordance with City policies.
- Perform maintenance and improvements on City buildings, streets and property.
- Obtains oral and written quotes in the procurement process of parts, materials, and equipment according to City policies.
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Shovel dirt or sand in making trenches or other excavations.
- Perform upkeep and maintenance on City parks and recreation and maintenance equipment per schedule in accordance with safety standards.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Experience required: Infrastructure Technician I is an entry level position. 2 years performing repair and maintenance experience preferred. Infrastructure Technician II requires applicants to have proficient knowledge of common tools, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, operate construction equipment. Infrastructure Technician III requires advanced knowledge of electrical circuitry, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general construction. License preferred. High school diploma or GED required, ability to obtain MOT certification or other licenses as required. Valid Florida Driver’s License required. Commercial Driver's License is a plus.
