Aviation Blvd. Multi-Use Trail

The long anticipated improvements to the Aviation Boulevard Trail are finally coming to fruition.  While the project began back in 2012, efforts over the last year have been crucial to see this project started. 

The project started September 9, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by May 26, 2020. Upon completion, the project will provide an upgraded 8 foot wide trail along the airport side of Aviation Blvd., with landscaping, benches, trash receptacles, and infrastructure for future path lighting. To accomplish the trail modification, Aviation Blvd will be shifted 18 inches to the north, with a little bit wider shift in the areas with no development along the Boulevard.

The project will also extend up 107th Street to US 1, with the construction of a 5 foot shoulder on both sides of the road, which also acts as a bicycle lane.

While all efforts will be made to minimize the impact to the local residents, as with all construction project in the public Right-Of –Way, there will be some disruption, and lane closures throughout the construction period. Ample notice will be provided for lane closures, and a message board will be established in the work area to inform roadway users of upcoming activities. The attached sketches provide for a general concept of the proposed improvements.
