Launching and Parking Information

UPDATE:  Residents or property owners that purchase a new vehicle or register a vehicle in the City going forward, will still need to register their vehicles with the City to be exempt from the boat launch and parking fees.

Permanent and part-time residents of the City of Marathon and Key Colony Beach are permitted to utilize the ramps and parking with a vehicle or trailer registered in Marathon or Key Colony Beach at no cost.  All vehicles and trailers that are not registered within the City of Marathon or Key Colony Beach will need to register for free parking and launching services.  Instructions are below.

To register your vehicles and trailers you will need the following:

1.  Copy of your property record card (Click here to obtain a copy)

2.  Copy of all your vehicle and trailer registrations

**In-Person registration at City Hall is available**

 Note: Property owners whose property is registered in a trust or LLC will not qualify for free parking or launching services.   

Golf carts shall be deemed to be the same as a motor vehicle and are subject to the same fees.

The launch fee is $25 in and $25 out.  Trailer parking is $20 per day.  Beach parking is $5 for each of the first two hours and $2 per hour thereafter.  (No overnight parking is allowed and trailers will be towed.)

The City of Marathon’s system is camera enforced.  Failure to pay parking fees at Sombrero Beach will result in a $90 fine sent to the owner of the registered vehicle.  Failure to pay launch fees at any of the City’s ramps will result in a $200 fine for the registered owner of the trailer. If the ticket is paid within 15 days from the notice, the fine is reduced by 50%.
